So... how do we survive road-trips?

• Generally, the first half of our trip is spent with the kids entertaining themselves with their bags.  They cycle through their books, toys, and snacks.  They are generally pretty content.
• We make a pit stop.  We gas up, take a potty break, and get a meal (I love taking something to go because it keeps them occupied that much longer!).
• We watch a movie or play on tablets. I prefer a movie that they all watch because then my kids don't fight over who gets what's device and they expect to "settle in" for a little while.  

We take a 6-hour drive up to my parents' house several times a year.  We have made longer trips too, but this method is one that has worked for our family.  My kids are now 10, 7, and 4.  This will need to be modified based on their ages, interests, and abilities.  After many, many trips though, my kids know not to ask for screen times until we've hit our half-way mark.  I feel like it makes our trip more pleasant and helps to keep the zombies at bay!  How do you handle road trips?  I would love to hear your ideas!
